Q&A – Should I trim the bottom of my hydrangeas to increase air flow?

Question:
Should I trim the bottom of my hydrangeas to increase air flow?

Answer:

Removing the bottom of the plant will increase air flow. University of Memphis Director of Landscape Joellen Dimond says you should check the conditions around the plant to see if that would be beneficial. If there are other plants or walls nearby, they may limit airflow even if you prune.
