Q&A – What are these white specks on my crape myrtle’s leaves?
Question:
What are these white specks on my crape myrtle’s leaves?
Answer:
These are aphids. University of Memphis Director of Landscape Joellen Dimond says they are very common on crape myrtle. Crape myrtles growing in full sun with good air circulation are less likely to have an aphid infestation, but they are easy to treat. Retired UT Extension Agent Mike Dennison says you may not have to treat the plant. Often natural predators or a disease will take care of the aphids for you.
