Q&A – What are these yellow striped caterpillars on my oak tree?
Question:
What are these yellow striped caterpillars on my oak tree?
Answer:
These are yellow-necked caterpillars. They feed in groups and can do some defoliation. It is now late fall and the tree has already gathered the energy it needs for the winter so the caterpillars will do no real damage to the tree. You can leave them alone, but if you want to get rid of them you can use a product containing BT (Bacillus thuringiensis).
