Q&A – What is this fruit & what is this growth?
Question:
What is this fruit & what is this growth?
Answer:
Starting with the growth, it is cedar apple rust. So, that means that this is an apple tree. These trees were grown from seed. Retired UT Extension Agent Mike Dennison recommends buying fruit trees from a nursery because they are grafted. The fruit on the trees growing from seed will not be true to the mother tree. They will also not necessarily have a good rootstalk which they need for good production.
