What is this? We found it in
the garden.

This is bird nest fungus, named because it looks like a bird’s nest with eggs. It is growing in decomposing organic matter like mulch. It is not hurting anything and there is no need to use chemicals. If you don’t like it, you can rake it out of the mulch.
