Q&A – What will get Bermuda grass out of my lawn?

Question:
I love my green lawn year round!!! For the last few years this horrible Bermuda grass has been appearing. Round up kills it, but then it returns again. What will get Bermuda grass out of my lawn permanently? I do not like the look of spots that appear dead in Winter and try to take over in Spring.

Answer:
This is tricky because what you spray to kill Bermuda will also kill your desirable lawn. The best way to kill Bermuda is to spot spray with a non-selective herbicide or grass killer just as it comes out of dormancy in the spring. Be very careful to minimize damage to your lawn from the herbicide.
