Q&A – Is there any way to protect garden tomatoes from farm herbicides?

Question:
What would be your recommended weed and feed for St. Augustine lawns?

Answer:

Weed and feed may be a convenient way to apply both, but applying fertilizer and herbicide separately is a better option. Retired UT Extension Agent Mike Dennison says you need to fertilize when the grass needs fertilizer. Also, treat with herbicides when the lawn needs it. He does recommend a pre- and post-emergent herbicide for St. Augustine grass lawns.
