Q&A – Should I plant my fig tree now or wait until fall?
Question:
I have two fig trees in pots. They are 2-3 feet tall and sprouting figs. Can I plant fig trees now in the summer, or should I wait till cooler weather? - William, Somerville, TN
Answer:
UT Extension Horticulture Specialist Carol Reese says to plant it now so it can get established before winter. She waited until fall last year and the unestablished tree was killed by the cold weather. You just have to remember to water it in the hot summer.
