Q&A – Why are my cucumbers producing short yellow fruits?
Question:
My cucumbers did well early but began to produce short, round yellow fruits. What happened?
Answer:
Cucumbers need a lot of water. Retired UT Extension Agent Mike Dennison explains it was a wet spring but then dried out in July and August. When cucumbers don’t have enough water they produce round or yellow fruits. His guess is that this dry out did not provide the cucumbers enough water and instead of producing normal fruit they produced misshapen fruit.
