Q&A – Why are my peas yellow? Do I just need to add some fertilizer?
Question:
My daughter grew these peas from seed but now they look pale and are no longer growing robustly like they were. Is it just a matter of adding some fertilizer?
Answer:
Yellowing leaves can be a symptom of many problems. Retired UT Extension Agent Mike Dennison says they could be over or under watered or not have enough nutrients, or they could need a larger container. University of Memphis Director of Landscape Joellen Dimond says that plants in a container need even water which can be hard. Mike also suggests that legumes require rhizobia bacteria to fix nitrogen. The potting soil may not have any of these bacteria in it.
