Q&A – Why do my red oak tree’s leaves have spots and are falling off?
Question:
Why do my red oak tree’s leaves have spots and are falling off?
Answer:
This is a fungal leafspot. UT Extension Agent Chris Cooper says it won’t be harmful to the tree. The leaves will continue to function. He does not recommend spraying. UT/TSU Extension Agent Celeste Scott says in years with wet springs we see more of this. By the time the weather heats up and dries out the fungus is no longer active. When the leave fall pick them up and throw them away. Do not compost them.
