Q&A – Why do our azaleas not bloom like they used to? Some plants bloom, others do not.

Question:
Why do our azaleas not bloom like they used to? Some plants bloom, others do not.

Answer:
From the pictures UT/TSU Extension Agent Celeste Scott is able to identify feeding damage, probably from the azalea lace bug. The feeding is heaviest on the middle shrub, which looks the worst. Celeste identifies how to treat the plants. With treatment, the shrubs should recover after a few years.
