Q&A – Why does my hydrangea have brown dark spots all over?
Question:
Why does my hydrangea have brown dark spots all over?
Answer:
This is cercospora leaf spot which is fungal. UT Extension Agent Chris Cooper says will not affect the plant, it only looks bad. He says the best thing to do is practice good sanitation. When the leaves fall off collect them and throw them away. If you are planting hydrangeas choose varieties that are resistant to cercospora leaf spot. Also, you can use a fungicide, but that will only prevent new spots. It will not cure existing spots.
