Q&A – Will Fusilade damage ferns, vinca, or shrubbery?

Question:
HELP!!! I am tired of battling Japanese Stiltgrass. I begin the season trying to manually remove it but eventually give up when the weather turns hot. I have read that the herbicide Fusilade can be used but I don't know if this is truly a grass or a weed. Will Fusilade damage ferns, vinca minor, or shrubbery? Thank you! - Hattie, Lakeland, TN

Answer:
This person has problems with Japanese stiltgrass. Fusilade targets grass and will not permanently affect non-grasses. It was one of the first products on the market like this. There are other less expensive options now.  It will probably take multiple applications over several weeks or months to kill the grass.
