Mistletoe takes nutrients from the tree. University of Memphis Director of Landscape Joellen Dimond says the mistletoe will eventually kill the tree. If you continually cut the mistletoe out, the tree will last longer. If the tree is in an area that has lots of mistletoe, plant a tree that is not susceptible to mistletoe.
