Q&A – Will the constant application of pre-emerge on my lawn affect the microbes in the soil?

Question:
Will the constant application of pre-emerge on my lawn affect the microbes in the soil?

Answer:

Adding any chemical will affect the microbes, but gardener Peter Richards says the chemicals are tested to make sure they do not have a permanent effect on the microbes. He says following the label on the chemicals and not using more than is recommended will prevent permanent microbe damage.
