Q&A – What are these yellow spots in my lawn?
Question:
I’ve noticed yellow spots in my lawn recently. My first thought was that my lawn service had spot sprayed weeds, but it’s definitely something else. What is it and how do I take care of it?
Answer:
This is a fungus called red thread. You can tell because of the red tint to the dead grass leaves. This spring it was wet and cool which are conditions this fungus loves. No treatment is necessary, as it heats up and dries out in the summer the fungus will die and the grass will recover.
