Q&A - Do I have to prune off the top of my Crape Myrtle?

Question:
I see a lot of people in my neighborhood that are pruning their crape myrtles and they are whacking them off.  Is it necessary to prune them this way?

Answer:
Chris, Tonya, and Carol talk about the myth that Crape Myrtle trees need to be topped every year. Crape Myrtles look beautiful when they are left to grow to their natural shape.
