Q&A - Is It Okay to Have Ivy In My Trees?

Question:
I have ivy growing up one of my trees. Is that okay or will it harm the tree?

Answer:
Chris sits down with certified arborist Wes Hopper to learn what negative effects vines and ivy can have on our trees. Harmful examples such as kudzu and wisteria can cause deformities, certain diseases and can even smother trees and kill them. Be sure to mind what effects girdling or restrictive plants have on your trees before they cause too much damage. Vines in trees can hide tree problems and provide a home and hiding place for animals you may not want to have in your yard.
