Q&A – How do I get rid of knots on my crape myrtles?

Question:
How do I get rid of knots on my crape myrtles?

Answer:
These knots are the result of harsh pruning often called crape murder. Because of the size of the trees, Gardener Peter Richards says the knots will always be visible. If you want to get rid of them he recommends a way you can cut a branch to the ground and let a sucker take its place which you can then let grow and be knot free.
