Q&A – How do I prevent
catalpa worms?

Question:
How do I prevent catalpa worms?

Answer:

There are several ways you can reduce catalpa worms on your catalpa trees. University of Memphis Director of Landscape Joellen Dimond says you can till under the trees. She says you can also spray the young larvae with Bacillus Thuringiensis (Bt), an organic insecticide. Joellen says if the worms are only on some of your trees, there may be an environmental factor as to why they are choosing that tree.

The publication about catalpa worms Joellen referenced is available here: Catalpa Worm/ Catalpa Sphinx Moth
