Q&A – I cut down my crape myrtle. It keeps growing. How do I kill it?
Question:
I cut down my crape myrtle. It keeps growing. How do I kill it?
Answer:
Cutting down a crape myrtle does not kill it. It will sprout from the stump and roots. University of Memphis Director of Landscape Joellen Dimond says to try to pull out the stump. Then cut off all the suckers that come up from the roots as soon as you see them. The roots will eventually run out of carbohydrates to support new growth and die.
