Q&A – I have a Chamaecyparis lawsoniana “Ellwoodii” as a houseplant. How do I care for it?

Question:
I have a Chamaecyparis lawsoniana “Ellwoodii” as a houseplant. How do I care for it?

Answer:
Chamaecyparis “Ellwoodii” can get 20 feet tall if planted outside in ideal conditions, but as a houseplant it will not get that tall. University of Memphis Director of Landscape Joellen Dimond says to make sure you do not overwater the plant and make sure it is well drained in the pot. She says to keep the soil on the dry side of moist. She also recommends lots of sun and rotating the plant every few days to allow all sides to get sun.
