Is it possible that grape hyacinth bulbs are just too deep to dig?

Answer:
Probably not. You may just need a larger shovel. Assistant Professor of Residential and Consumer Horticulture Natalie Bumgarner says they should not be much deeper than 5-6 inches. If you were planting them in your garden, they would be shallower than that.
