Q&A – My newly sprouted beans are yellow. Can a nitrogen deficiency show this early?
Question:
My newly sprouted beans are yellow. Can a nitrogen deficiency show this early?
Answer:
Even though beans are legumes they can still show a nitrogen deficiency. Retired UT Extension Agent Mike Dennison says the plants require a certain bacteria in the soil to make the nitrogen for them. If that bacteria is not present the plants won’t have enough nitrogen. The beans will grow out of it as the season progresses.
