Q&A – Should I be worried about these mushrooms growing out of the base of my oak tree?
Question:
Should I be worried about these mushrooms growing out of the base of my oak tree?
Answer:
This is armillaria which is a fungus that will slowly kill the tree. There is nothing you can do to stop it. If the tree has it, it is in an already weakened condition and you should have a certified arborist come and look at it. The armillaria will progressively weaken the tree. Seeing the size of the tree it could cause some damage if it were to start dropping limbs.
