Q&A – Why are my arborvitaes dying?
Question:
We lose one of our emerald green arborvitaes a year and no one can tell me what I can do to prevent this. This year 2 died. Do you have any ideas?
Answer:
Arborvitaes are generally easy to grow and don’t have problems. Arborvitaes do not like too much water. If they are planted in a low spot or a place that stays wet after a rain, they will not do well. They also tend to have problems when they are planted next to a fence or wall. Another issue here is that you should not plant a monoculture, or all the same plant. It is likely one will die and that creates an obvious hole in your landscape.
