Q&A - My 8 foot dogwood trees don't have a trunk. Why?

I planted some dogwood trees 3 or 4 years ago. My dogwoods are about 8 feet tall now but they don’t have a trunk or base, just long limbs. What’s wrong?

Dogwoods do not normally grow without a trunk. There are several reasons for this, if it is dogwood. The trees may have been topped or severely pruned when they were young. Probably you need remove the tree and start over.
