Q&A – How do I get rid of this morning glory?
I have sprayed but it returned.

Question:
How do I get rid of this morning glory? I have sprayed but it returned.

Answer:
Morning glory drops many seeds. Even if you kill all the living plants the seeds will sprout and you will have more. The first thing to do is to make sure the current plants don’t go to seed, pick off the flowers. Then kill the plants with a broad-spectrum herbicide like glyphosate. You can plant your bulbs and then continue to use the glyphosate to kill any morning glory that comes up. The glyphosate has no soil activity so the dormant bulbs under the soil surface won’t be affected. Of course, you need to stop spraying when the bulbs come up. Morning glory is tough but it can be eradicated with persistence.
